Butte Silver Bow Public Library is located at: 226 West Broadway, which is in uptown Butte.  It was established in 1894, as an alternative cure for the miner’s wild lifestyle of gambling, drinking, and prostitution.  The library was designed to promote higher values, and to portray an image of a cultivated and civilized city.

Cross Country ski trails are a very popular winter spot.  Highland View Golf Course hosts several different trails that are free during daylight hours.  To avoid damaging the golf course, skiers are asked to stay on the trails.  For inquiries, please contact the park and recreation director at: 406-497-6571.  Another great outdoor activity is the U.S. High Altitude Speed Skating Center, which is only one of three such speed skating rinks in the United States.
