We offer two different tapers: 4-2 and 5-3. The higher number refers to the center portion of the cover and the lower number refers to the edge portion of the cover. This taper aids in water run-off.
      Foam —————————— Density Lbs/Ft³ R-Value —————–
    • Which foam density should you choose?

      4-2 1lb

4-2 1lb. is the standard. It is ideal for covering your tub. Obviously it adds some insulation and some resistance to loads but it is not recommended for Inland Northwest outdoor use. Perhaps if you have a gazebo or awning over your tub and do not have pets or children that find their way up onto the cover, then this may be the cover for you.

      4-2 1.5lb

4-2 1-1/2lb. is getting more down to business in dealing with mother nature. The higher the density, the more “load” your cover can handle. You can have more confidence that the lighter snowfalls and smaller pets you have won’t damage your cover quite as easily. This is for someone who is worried about light snowfall building up on your cover.

      4-2 2lb

4-2 2lb. is a powerhouse. While it does start out a bit heavier than a standard cover, you will be glad you have it when the snow loads pile up, or your large dogs or small children use the cover as a sofa. This is a wonderful purchase for anyone concerned with strength and insulation, and the high density does provide higher insulation.

    • Which foam density should you choose?

      5-3 1lb

5-3 1lb. is definitely a step up from 4-2 1lb. The thicker the foam, the more insulation you are going to get. It will be a bit stronger as well because it is a whole inch thicker. Ideal for the insulation conscious customer.

      5-3 1.5lb

5-3 1-1/2lb. is a great all around choice. The thickness and the high density team up to offer you the best of both worlds. It is pretty comparable to the 4-2 2lb. foam. Again, a great choice for those concerned with strength and insulation.

      5-3 2lb

5-3 2lb. is as you may guess, rigid and strong. The strongest and best insulation cover we offer. Again, it will be heavier when brand new but will stand up to a lot! Ideal for those who are away from home a lot and cannot be around to sweep snow off their cover, or keep heavy objects from finding a resting place upon your cover.
